Description
By assigning the role of the protagonist to his carefully selected interlocutors (A. Minotis, A. Synodinou, L. Kallergis, K. Georgousopoulos, S. Evangelatos, I. Kampanellis, etc.), Kostas Kastanas, through his penetrating questions, manages to illuminate aspects of their personality and artistic journey while also eliciting their views on major issues of Greek cultural life. The book is accompanied by a digital disc with audio excerpts from the radio shows and is adorned with sketches depicting the interviewees, crafted by the author himself.
Kostas Kastanas studied theater at the drama school of the National Theatre of Greece, where he later taught for twelve years. As an actor, he had the honor of starring in performances of works by great Greek and foreign authors (Aeschylus, Sophocles, Euripides, A. Matesis, Hourmouzis, Xeniopoulos, Prevelakis, Kazantzakis, Terzakis, Kampanellis, Anagnostakis, Zioga, Shakespeare, Chekhov, Ibsen, Strindberg, Molière, Brecht, O'Neill, Camus, Pinter, etc.) during his long collaboration with the National Theatre of Greece, with the Minotis-Paxinou company, and with many other troupes, sometimes his own. His contribution to the revival of Ancient Greek Drama was significant, as he interpreted roles from ancient tragedy at Epidaurus, Herodes, Dodoni, and other theaters in Greece and abroad during tours with the National Theatre.
