Description

By publishing the "Recital" series, our intention is to cover the repertoire primarily for the lower grades of guitar (Preliminary, Elementary) as well as the higher grades (Intermediate, Advanced). If we assume that each of these grades lasts three years, then each issue of this series corresponds in some way to one year. Of course, no one is obligated to play or teach these specific pieces in the designated year, as the abilities and performance of students vary significantly. The "Recital" series does not contain any studies, as the most important guitar studies have already been published with the same pedagogical logic by the same Publishing House (Concert Studies 1, 2, 3, 4).

The works included, some original and some arranged, come from all musical periods. They start from the 16th century and reach the 20th century.

Specifically, "Recital No. 1 and No. 2," without being methods (as are the other Recital issues), are intended to play an educational role, since the pieces they contain - pedagogically placed - can solve many of the technical problems faced by a new guitar student.

They consist of two parts. The first includes pieces for solo guitar, while the second includes arrangements of pieces and songs from around the world, for two guitars. The music of Manos Hadjidakis plays a dominant role (especially in the duets of the second part). It is essential for the younger generations to know, learn, and love the work of the greatest composer of the 20th century.

The first guitar (melody) is almost always monophonic and is necessarily played by the student. The second, somewhat more difficult, is intended for the teacher or a more advanced student.

At the same time, it was deemed appropriate to include some biographical details of the composers whose works are included in the "Recital" series, in order to complement the students' knowledge. I want to thank Kostas Papagrigoriou and Harilaos Nakas who bravely took on the risk of such an endeavor, as well as Dimitrios Ntoulias without whom such an ambitious publication could not have been realized.

Thus, an idea that had become an obsession for me many years ago, from the time I started teaching, was realized.
