PRACTICAL ADVICE FOR TEACHERS
The method can be used for both kindergarten and elementary school as well as for middle school. For a realistic planning and a consistent approach to teaching, we must take into account the organizational and structural characteristics of each school, as well as the age of the students, especially regarding their ability to focus and their sensory and psychomotor skills.
The rhythm lessons are conducted collectively, while the recorder lessons are individual. In the last year of Kindergarten, they can be held daily, with a duration not exceeding 10 minutes, alternating with other activities. In regular elementary classes, it is suggested to split the class into groups, so that each group has guaranteed two or three lessons per week. For the recorder lessons, 20 minutes can be dedicated each day, using 10 minutes for individual lessons and 10 for group music. For rhythm, 10 minutes at the beginning of lessons twice a week is sufficient. All pieces for recorder can also be used for rhythmic exercises.
In middle school, it is recommended to dedicate a few minutes to rhythm and the remainder to the recorder. This book examines the difficulties teachers encounter in searching for musical pieces suitable for their students. Thus, in addition to being a method, it is also a repertoire of pieces selected according to the difficulties presented.
It is not necessary for the student to perform all the pieces of a lesson in order to move on to the next one. It is sufficient to study, in addition to the exercises, one more piece whether for one or two recorders.
Those using the Goitre method (GOITRE: CANTAR LEGGENDO/ED. SUVINI ZERBONI) can use the pieces included in the text up to Chapter XV and those included in the cards. Students should study the duets separately at first and then play them alternating the parts. At the beginning, the teacher will rhythmically intonate a “one, two”, and then the starting point will be given by a gesture of agreement among the students.
The separate parts of each duet can be performed together by more than one recorder, with an equal number of performers for both parts. All pieces include indications for the metronome, which serve only as a guide. Teachers will find other tips in the explanatory text, which acts as a practical guide. Any comments and suggestions are welcome.
