Description

Why think like a monk? To find the inner peace, purpose, and happiness that we all seek. Jay Shetty, a former monk and now a global social media phenomenon, transforms ancient, timeless wisdom into practical, everyday advice that anyone can apply.

This book does not ask you to give up everything. On the contrary, it shows you how to incorporate the monk mindset into your modern, complex life in order to overcome negativity, anxiety, and bad habits that hold you back.

This book is for you if...

  • Do you feel that the noise of the modern world blocks your inner voice?
  • Are you looking for practical ways to manage stress, negativity, and overthinking?
  • Do you want to discover the purpose and meaning of your life, beyond professional success?
  • Are you fascinated by ancient wisdom, but want to learn how to apply it to today's reality?
  • Are you ready to train your mind for peace and happiness, just as you train your body at the gym?

What will help you improve?

By following in the footsteps of Jay Shetty, you will learn to think like a monk and improve:

  • Your ability to find calm and focus amidst everyday chaos.
  • Your resilience against criticism and the negativity of others.
  • The quality of your relationships, by learning to love with intention and not out of dependency.
  • Your self-discipline, overcoming procrastination and building positive habits.
  • Your sense of purpose, aligning your actions with your true values.

The Method: What to Expect?

Jay Shetty combines ancient wisdom with modern science. Inside the book you will find:

  • Three key stages to adopt the monk mindset: Release, Growth, Devotion.
  • Practical exercises, meditations, and breathing techniques that you can apply immediately.
  • Specific steps to manage fear, improve your self-confidence, and find your true identity.
  • An accessible and captivating narrative that makes the deepest spiritual concepts completely understandable.

The opinion of the experts

Jay Shetty's approach has earned the admiration of top personalities worldwide. Arianna Huffington, founder of the Huffington Post, states: "Jay Shetty shows you step by step how to build your strength, balancing between self-awareness and productivity." This statement confirms the book's ability to bridge the spiritual world with the demands of modern life.

Read an excerpt

We try to live up to what we think others believe about us, even at the expense of our own values. We rarely, if ever, consciously and intentionally create our own values. We make life decisions using this double reflection of who we might be, without thinking it through thoroughly. Cooley called this phenomenon the "looking-glass self." We live within a perception of a perception of ourselves, and as a result, we lose our true selves. How can we recognize who we are and what makes us happy when we are chasing the distorted reflection of someone else's dreams? You might think that the hardest part of becoming a monk is giving up all the fun things: parties, sex, television, owning things, sleeping in a regular bed (okay, the bed part is pretty tough). But before I took those steps, I had to face an even bigger obstacle: announcing my "career" choice to my parents.

I have started many books and usually somewhere in the middle I get tired and leave them. This one kept my interest until the end and also has a very nice writing style. At least for my taste. Favorite

I haven't read many books, but 3 (one mystery, historical, and this one), so my opinion is not very objective, but I found it very easy to read! It kept me engaged throughout. It changed my perspective on various things and I saw some differences in myself! I read it in about 3 months due to workload, but I liked the writing style. Not dense or verbose. I got lost at some points with the "special terms" it used and I couldn't remember them along the way. Nevertheless, every book we read has something to offer us.

Okay, I know it was heavily promoted and advertised on a global level, but it didn't convince me particularly. Useful tips, yes, but as for how feasible they are for everyone, allow me to maintain my doubts. Generally, I have reservations about self-help books that are generally aimed at everyone, as I consider each case to be unique. Anyway, it's worth it just for the temporary optimism it will leave you with.
