This book is a tool for students and professors in the field of political science and sociology, without following the classic arrangement and presentation of the history of sociological theories.
In Marx's work, the following are highlighted: a) criticism of the method of political economy; b) the dimension of politics and the anti-anarchism of the final ideal; and c) the relationship between cooperation and emancipation. In Weber's work, Economy and Society explores the concept of community and its political dimension, compared to the concept of community in Tönnies' work Community and Society. Then, the concept of society in Tönnies' work is compared to Marx's Capital and the formulation of a sociology of natural law in Community and Society, which criticizes Jhering's legal theory. Adler's work is also examined in terms of interpreting Marx's work from the perspective of the social and political theory of the social state, as it is internally connected to the fundamental issue of a theory of democracy at two levels: as a distinction between political and social democracy and as a critique of the legal conception of the rule of law (Kelsen).
In the second part of the book, translations of texts by H. Spencer, J.A. Hobson, and G. Schmoller are presented, which summarize basic dimensions of the relationship between liberalism and representative democracy (Spencer), the formulation of a social democratic model of social and political democracy (Hobson), and social justice (Schmoller).
