Sports and art: two worlds that seem diametrically opposed, yet they share a significant number of common elements, such as the spirit of competition and play, the practice of exercise and public exposure, concentration, mental imagery, motor control, spontaneity, expressive creation, psychological flow, etc.
This book attempts to highlight this reciprocal interplay of thought and action, as well as the perpetual effort to subjugate them, to bridge the dynamics of this dualism of thought and action in the relationship "sports and art" (with action drawing its material from thought and thought from action) by describing in detail its educational, pedagogical, and sociological dimensions.
The ambition of the editors is for this collective volume, which gathers contemporary theoretical approaches, research studies, and teaching proposals, to make a substantial contribution to the relevant discussion that concerns the entire educational community today and to become a valuable assistant, collaborator, and advisor in the hands of every educator, as well as a significant stimulus for further scientific research and intervention.
