The Menschen series guides learners through two slim volumes at each level. Volume B1/1 includes the first 12 chapters of level B1 and systematically prepares students for the requirements of the Zertifikat B1 exam. Each chapter of the Student's Book includes four or six pages. Vocabulary learning is facilitated by the illustrated dictionary that accompanies the corresponding page. At the end of each chapter, there is always a summary presentation of the grammar and the necessary expression tools.

The audio material for Volume B1/1 is included in the MP3 download of the Student's Book B1. Every three chapters form a thematic unit, which is accompanied by four additional pages with longer texts, exercises based on video clips, and projects focused on German-speaking countries.
