This volume generally contains the doctrinal teaching of the Orthodox Catholic Church, as this teaching is explained by the author to the students of the Theological School at the University of Athens.
The title's use of the word "topics" was chosen to reflect the unified study of Doxology and to connect, in a certain way, the present edition of our university lectures with the first edition, titled "Topics of Dogma and Christian Ethics".
Additionally, the use of the word "topics" aims to make clear that this volume, primarily intended for students, does not provide a detailed exposition of all aspects of divine supernatural Revelation.
Furthermore, due to the limited time allocated for the course of Doctrine, and for all courses in the School, only a portion of the time is spent on in-depth discussion with students during lectures.
It should be noted here that, following the "Prolegomena to Dogmatics," the title of the section "A Brief Overview of Orthodox Dogmatic Teaching" is used in our university lectures and, consequently, in this volume, for two reasons.
First, to give students, during the more extensive examination of individual dogmas, a general but clear view of the entire dogmatic teaching of the Church. Second, to enable students, when it is not possible to thoroughly examine the entire content of dogma, to at least understand its main points and the Church's dogmatic teaching when leaving the School.
The term "dogmatic theology" instead of simply "dogma" was preferred for two reasons. First, to connect dogmatic theology with the comprehensive discipline of theology, of which dogma is the core and main framework. And second, to distinguish it from the term "ethical theology".
