Mortal Kombat 11 is a Western Fighting Game that became known for its violence.

The series made a soft reboot with MK9, which narratively retold the story of the first three games, with Raiden seeing visions from the future and trying to change things, making big mistakes along the way. In MK10, trying to defeat the evil god, he becomes ruthless himself.
In this game, the goddess of time, Kronika, tired of Raiden's constant interventions, decides to reset History without him. To achieve this, she merges the past with the present, allowing new and living versions of known characters to enter the present. The production value of the story is amazing, making it much more enjoyable than the recent movie.
As if that wasn't enough, the Ultimate Edition also includes Aftermath. A short story about the events that took place after the main game, focusing on some characters that didn't appear much.

Apart from the story, the game has many additional modes to keep you busy for a long time. The classic Towers return, offering familiar modes, including the arcade mode, which has a short ending for each character. After the classic Towers, there are the Towers of Time, which have unique variables and refresh every hour, day, or week. Finally, there is the online mode, which has all the familiar modes for casual players and those with imperfect connections.

The game has a lot of grind. The Krypt returns, and now the chests are simply loot boxes with random loot, with most rewards being consumables for the towers. Everything gives you money, souls, hearts, and many other useless items to combine, use, and earn even more useless items. Each character has customizable taunts, win poses, moves, and skins, with each shade of clothing considered a separate item. There are also upgrades, but to equip them, you have to grind with each character's individual clothing. Everything tries to make you pay in the cash shop, and due to the uselessness, you never get what you're looking for with the random loot boxes.

If you get the Ultimate Edition for PS4 or any other console, it has a separate data disc (they confused the cover with the play disc) with most of the DLC, except for those released later with patches like Friendships, and it includes 2 voucher codes, one for a free upgrade to PS5 and the other for a handful of skins.
If you want the content on the disc and want to play it on PS5, the best option is the PS4 version.
