Fifteen years after the monumental biography of Velouchiotis, titled "Aris, the leader of the irregulars," Dionysis Charitopoulos returns with his new novel in another of his great loves: Piraeus.

Charitopoulos, a true product of the city, narrates the human geography of Piraeus during the period 1947-1967 and captures the soul of the great port, the identity of each neighborhood, the characters of the well-known and unknown protagonists of the city, the everyday people, all those who left their mark on its history.

As he confesses in the book's epigraph, "in Piraeus, I stand on solid ground" with all that this implies, while on the back cover, the author meaningfully notes: "You can see and do everything in Piraeus, everything except one, to make it tough."

The book is permeated with uniquely crafted characteristic images of Piraeus, mainly through the eyes of the book's hero, "the child," revealing the author's intense personal experiences as well as a significant archival research, thanks to which the reader will find information and events that are little known or even entirely unknown.

"From Piraeus," as it is titled, aspires to become a reference book for the great port and to be loved by all Greeks, as it captures, in Charitopoulos's unique style, one of the most significant periods of modern Greek history.
