The Prestan Jaw Thrust manikin is used to teach the jaw thrust technique, as well as CPR and defibrillation. It allows trainees to lift and move the lower jaw forward and backward. The jaw thrust technique is practiced to open the airway while minimizing neck movement.
The built-in LED metronome provides feedback on the rate and depth of chest compressions, while the clicker mechanism gives an audible cue when compressions are correct. Rescue breaths deliver air to the lungs when the head is tilted back correctly, causing the chest to rise. The manikin is flexible and has a realistic skin texture, making it suitable for training with an automated external defibrillator.
