This work should not be judged as a strictly scientific endeavor; the related bibliography has not been exhausted - a necessary condition - and its original contributions could be counted on the fingers, perhaps of just one hand.

The aim was simply to write an informative book for the many who are unaware of the basics surrounding ancient Attic comedy and Aristophanes; and at the same time to give them the opportunity to familiarize themselves with a representative comedy - the one that few would deny the top position in the works of the classical comic.
