Description

A mysterious laboratory. A dark scientist. A secret story. If you think you know the truth behind Eleven's mother, get ready to turn your mind Upside Down in this thrilling prequel to the hit series Stranger Things.

It’s the summer of 1969 and the turmoil of conflicts is shaking American youth, both inside and outside the country. Terry Ives, a student at a quiet college in the heart of Indiana, couldn’t be farther from the front lines in Vietnam and from the fiery protests in the capital, Washington. But the world is changing, and for Terry, merely watching from a distance is not enough.

When she learns about a significant government program in the small town of Hawkins, she volunteers as a test subject for the project codenamed MKULTRA. Unmarked vans, a remote laboratory hidden deep in the woods, substances that manipulate the mind and are administered by secretive researchers... and a mystery that the young, restless Terry has decided to uncover.

But behind the walls of the National Laboratory in Hawkins —and under the penetrating gaze of its director, Dr. Martin Brenner— lies a conspiracy greater than anything Terry could have ever imagined. To confront it, she will need the help of the other test subjects, including one so mysterious that the world doesn’t even know of its existence — a little girl with unexplainable supernatural powers and a number instead of a name: 008.

Amid the growing tensions of the new decade, Terry Ives and Martin Brenner begin a war of a different kind — one where the battleground is the human mind.
