It is the best processor for people who wants to stay on AM4 platform. I upgraded from a 5 3600 and paired it with RX9070XT works like a charm

Unbeatable processor to give a bit more life to the AM4 platform, since 5700x3d/800x3d are no longer produced.
It doesn't lag anywhere and handles whatever you throw at it, considering it's now 3 generations old, it doesn't break a sweat.

Purchased on 08/12/25 for 265 euros for work and replaced a 5700G. Upgrade on existing AM4 (B550 Aorus Elite AX V2 with 64GB at 3200) because AM5 is too expensive for memory. In office tasks, it runs everything smoothly. In demanding tasks like CAD, rendering, etc., the 16 cores respond perfectly. Liquid cooling with 3 fans and temperatures up to 70 without any adjustments. Normal temperatures 35-45. With a few tweaks, it reaches up to 5.15 MHz on at least 2 cores. For 265 euros, it is a good upgrade purchase for work for the next five years.... In games with a 9060XT 16GB, it performs just fine

The best possible performance for AM4. In a prebuilt system that was about to be replaced due to CPU throttling, it gave it new life.
In use for both gaming and applications, the number of cores helps to a great extent. Yes, in games there isn't enough parallelism for all cores to be used, but the higher frequency of this generation significantly boosts performance.

Especially at this time, when upgrading to AM5 platforms currently also means switching to DDR5 RAM (until DDR4+DDR5 motherboards become more available), which makes the upgrade cost prohibitive, an upgrade from smaller and older AM4 processors to models like this or the 5900X is value for money for now and has nothing to envy from later models.

the best cpu for am4 runs anything and doesn't even get used that much just make sure you use water cooling or a big air cooler and a motherboard with good cooling otherwise you may run to temperature issues despite that I highly recommend it.

Very powerful processor both in gaming and editing! For anyone who has an AM4 socket and is looking for an upgrade without changing motherboard, RAM, etc., I think this processor is the top choice!

I upgraded from the 2700x since my system has the MSI TOMAHAWK MAX and with this processor, which is essentially the best it can support, I am quite satisfied after 2 weeks of use with a lot of multitasking and in terms of temperatures, of course, I have paired it with an NZXT Kraken liquid cooler and I am satisfied!

Really, at this price (I got it at 241), for anyone who just wants to get the best processor without changing their old am4 setup, it's a bargain! Don't be afraid of the temperatures, you don't need water cooling. On a b450 tomahawk with 32gb ram, noctua u12s push pull. Pbo 160watts, tdc 120A, edc 160A, +50hz override and curve optimizer -12 on the 8 cores of CCD0 and -10 on the other 8 of CCD1, Cinebench r23 26,300 with max temp 78 degrees! When the 5800x reached 92 degrees and the 3900xt 87 degrees with similar pbo and same cooling setup in cinebench always. Of course, in gaming the temperatures are lower. I've seen single core boost at 5.1 on two cores, 5.05 on a third, and another 4 occasionally breaking the 5ghz limit, while even the weakest boosted at some point to 4.87. The best components of the 5000 series in the 5950x. For anyone who doesn't want to change motherboard, ram and wants the best possible on am4 for overall use, not just games, it's more than worth it.

Notable processor at a good price, which I believe gave at least another 2-3 years of life to the am4 platform.

For the applications I run that use all the power of the processor, processing times were greatly reduced compared to the 6-core I had before.

For cooling, I installed the triple water cooling Thermalright Aqua Elite 360 (v3). By properly adjusting the fans, the noise is at normal levels and at full load the maximum temperature I saw was 78 degrees at noon, while in the morning/evening hours when it's not so hot, it didn't exceed 70 degrees. At idle it is at 33-40.

As for the bios settings, I didn't change anything, I left everything on auto and with the max power at 140 watts.

Therefore, with a total upgrade cost of €300 cpu+water cooling, I think it was worth the money even now in 2025, as the transition to am5 would cost three times as much.

Amazing processor. I had the 5600x and the difference is huge, even in games not so much in benchmarks but in the smoothness of the game. Combined with a b450 I had for 3 years and the upgrade was really worth it. I am waiting for the 8000 generation for a complete upgrade, which I will consider then. Completely satisfied, nonexistent temperatures with arctic 36, at full power, at 140 watts, pbo -15 all cores. It never exceeds 65 degrees even after hours of use.
Note: those who are only into gaming should go for the 7600 at this time and wait for the next generation. The 5800x3d that I had is much better for gaming

Awesome processor for multitasking. In single core, you won't understand its power because it's shy and doesn't show off! But in multi, you'll be running to catch up with it. I have it with DARK ROCK PRO 4 air cooling, in a case with amazing air flow, the bequiet PURE 500, and then the magic with CPU ratio to lock it at 4.2GHz and reduce vcore voltage, without losing performance (on the contrary, they even increased in multi-thread). Idle temperature is around 38-40 degrees Celsius and when I push it, it hasn't gone above 72 degrees Celsius. So, you disable PBO to keep your head cool and not fry eggs, and everything goes smoothly... at least for the usage I give it, as it's not used for gaming but only for design 3D renderings, etc.

What can you say about 16 cores and 32 threads? It's not the latest model from AMD, but at this price, it's a great opportunity. For me, it doesn't make sense to chase after the latest models and pay a fortune for them, as new ones come out every few months...
The machine is built on an x570 chipset, with 64GB of RAM and an Nvidia RTX 3060 12GB. The temperatures are around 60 degrees, and the highest I've seen is 70 without water cooling. I won't mention games - they all play perfectly - video editing just flies, and under Linux, with the virtual machines I run, it's smooth as can be...
Load it up as much as you can... it won't disappoint you...

No matter what we say, it's not enough, you already know, no need to repeat it.
I have it on a GB Aorus Master X570S motherboard, which is a beautiful beast.
Cooling is done with an LC-Power LC-CC-360-LiCo (which I got for a good deal of 58€).
And the power supply is a Mars Gaming MPB850 (850Watt) Bronze 80.
The case is a Cougar MX660 (it drove me a bit crazy with the cooler - I should have gone for a slightly bigger case :-( ).

We are talking about a miracle from God.
Many will say Intel, but don't go for Intel.
The differences between i9 10900 and R9 5950x are significant.
The R9 5950x wins in the following:
    Difference of 6 cores (i9 10900: 10 cores) < (R9 5950x: 16 cores) significant difference
    Difference of 12 threads (i9 10900: 20 threads) < (R9 5950x: 32 threads) significant difference
    Difference in W (i9 10900: 125W) < (R9 5950x: 105W) small difference
    Difference in Cache Memory (i9 10900: 20MB) < (R9 5950x: 64MB) huge difference
    Difference in GHz (i9 10900: 5.3 GHz) > (R9 5950x: 4.9 GHz) small difference
The only thing i9 10900 wins in is GHz and not with a significant difference.
So Intel loses and Ryzen wins

I use it in the studio with heavy music programs. It is really amazing. So far, it has handled everything I have loaded on it effortlessly. Anyone considering it for music and low latency is a star. And I had bought it for twice the price it is now.

I mainly deal with photo editing. All programs now work at incredible speeds, imports and exports are lightning fast (combined with good hard drives), and temperatures are always very low. I don't deal with games at all. I plugged it into an Asus ROG Crosshair VIII Dark Hero X570 and everything worked automatically, without updates.

Okay, there is nothing better for this price right now (900€).
The biggest challenge for this processor is... finding it available...
I have it paired with a Noctua NH-D15S in a machine for CPU rendering and development in UE4 and it works perfectly.

  • Unbeatable processor to give a bit more life to the AM4 platform, since 5700x3d/800x3d are no longer produced.
It doesn't lag anywhere and handles whatever you throw at it, considering it's now 3 generations old, it doesn't break a sweat.

  • Purchased on 08/12/25 for 265 euros for work and replaced a 5700G.
