The language in its various forms of expression - spoken language, written language, internal language, body language, sign language, school language, languages of science and art, youth language, "panlingualism", etc. - constitutes a powerful social medium with corresponding dynamics through which humans can uniquely and creatively communicate with their social environment and simultaneously socialize gradually. The ability for linguistic communication is indeed a true miracle within the framework of human culture, which can be effectively approached by investing in its interdisciplinary character as well as in the use of Information and Communication Technologies for its learning in the modern era. The interdisciplinary mantle of such an approach highlights the complex and polysemic nature of human language and simultaneously ensures the necessary conditions for multifaceted access and ever-increasing knowledge-metaknowledge of the familiar phenomenon.
The endeavor for simultaneous negotiation of both the development and pathology of language in its classic dual manifestation - spoken and written - permeates the corpus of this treatise in its entirety, covering, among other things, current and interesting topics of scientific, social, and pragmatic character. Specifically: a) correlations of language with the human brain and other higher (cognitive) functions such as thinking, memory, creativity, learning, humor, emotion are developed, b) its intertwining with aspects of human daily culture such as communication, culture, medical clinical practice is highlighted, and c) serious forms of spoken and written language disorders are exposed, with emphasis on dyslexia in written speech and particularly on the role of speech therapy and the involved parties in addressing familiar phenomena. The programmatic reference to a series of topics related to the function of speech and language in human daily culture allows the creation of small and multifaceted reference mosaics that are arranged next to each other and adorn in their own way the investment canvas of the present endeavor.
The consideration of the familiar subject in the present negotiation is primarily identified with that of Cognitive Psychology without, however, omitting necessary linguistic or other elements, thus covering a significant gap in the familiar Greek scientific bibliography. At the same time, such a consideration gives particular weight to the pragmatic character of human speech and language, which refers to the everyday social context.
