It stabilizes the skis well! The elastic straps that tighten them need a little care; I leave them in the car when I take the skis off so they don’t get lost!
It should be mentioned in the description that it is single-use. I bought 2 (I was in a hurry and there wasn't a large base readily available) and how they managed to break 3 out of 4 straps is incredible. I installed them, returned from the trip, and then they wouldn't unscrew, the embedded nut they have ate into the plastic and the screw spun crazily inside. Poor product design. Also, they do not inspire confidence; to start with, I also put a tyre-up on top because they gave the impression that my skis would be raining down behind me if I didn't secure them better.
It does its job very decently!!
