Top-notch Noctua quality, but beware of compatibility with the Zalman H1!

What can one say about Noctua? The quality is simply top-notch! The fan is completely silent and offers amazing airflow.

I bought it to replace the stock fan in my old Zalman H1 case. But be careful if you plan to do the same, as it is not fully compatible out of the box:

    - Dimensions / Mounting: The Noctua is thicker/wider than Zalman’s “original” fan, so it wouldn’t fit from the outer side where the stock one was installed. I had to mount it from the inside of the case.

    - HDD Bays: To make it fit internally, I had to remove all the stock HDD bays. To avoid losing my hard drives, I improvised by moving them to the free 5.25" bays using special adapter brackets (3.5" & 2.5" to 5.25" adapters).

    - Mounting Holes: I struggled a bit with the screws, as I had to slightly drill out/enlarge the diameter of the case holes for them to fit properly.

Despite the hassle and the modifications, it was 100% worth it! The difference in cooling and quietness is night and day. If you’re reasonably handy, crave silent operation, and are willing to make the necessary modifications, buy it without hesitation.

Excellent quality. They have a large frame made of hard plastic, which I had to "trim" with a grinding disc. Of course, that has to do with the box you have.
