SurfaPore R is a water-based liquid product that contains nanoparticles with three different functional areas: (a) the nanoparticle core, which is small enough to penetrate the pores of ceramic materials, (b) the hydrophobic area, which is located at the top of the nanoparticle and effectively repels water, and (c) the binding surface, which causes the chemical "anchoring" of the nanoparticle to the ceramic material. Unlike "traditional" waterproofing agents, with the application of SurfaPore R, the pores, capillaries, and free surface are not "sealed" with insulating material; instead, their surface is "coated" hydrophobically while continuing to breathe. The functional nanoparticles chemically bind to the surface of the pores without filling them, preventing water penetration, frost cracks, the development of "blackening," moss, lichens, and the formation of salts.
