The cascading Terra Electronics MS553 intermediate multiswitch connects four SAT polarizations and terrestrial TV signals in series, for floor-to-floor installations or star-topology networks. Depending on the distance, up to 5 multiswitches can be connected in series without an amplifier. Supports a return channel.

The passive TV pass-through channel allows reception of terrestrial channels without the receiver being switched on. DC power for the LNBs can be supplied via the MS554 or MS554P terminal multiswitches, using 14 V from an external 18 V power supply.
