Description & Specifications

Analytical Chemistry, the science of measurement, is interested in the chemical characterization of matter, at a qualitative and quantitative level. Analytical Chemistry is useful in all scientific fields, such as: Chemistry (organic, inorganic, physical chemistry, and biochemistry), Biology, Geology, Environmental Sciences, Agriculture, Social Sciences, Materials Science, Medicine, Pharmacy, Engineering, and Physics.

The book deals with the "Basic Principles of Analytical Chemistry" and the first eight chapters examine the basic theoretical principles of Analytical Chemistry that refer to the following concepts: acid-base and oxidation-reduction reactions, solutions and solution concentrations, activity, charge and mass balancing, reaction rate, chemical equilibrium, distribution equilibrium, weak acid and base equilibria, pH, buffer solutions, heterogeneous chemical equilibrium and solubility product, complex ion equilibria and oxidation-reduction systems (galvanic cells, dynamic electrodes, indicator electrodes).

The last four chapters present the practical basic principles of Analytical Chemistry that refer to the following concepts: safety and basic equipment of the Analytical Chemistry laboratory, chemical reagents, functionality of the Analytical Chemistry laboratory and basic experimental techniques, experimental exercises concerning the aforementioned basic theoretical principles.

At the end of chapters 1-8, a satisfactory number of carefully selected questions, solved and unsolved problems, are provided for a better understanding of the basic theoretical concepts described in each chapter.

At the end of the book, appendices are provided: Greek and foreign language bibliography, major scientific journals where articles of Analytical Chemistry are published, tables of various constants, answers to unsolved problems, alphabetical indexes of various concepts, symbols, and foreign terms.
