Saint Spyridon, the patron saint of Corfu, is a personality full of light who guides us on the path of virtue.
Despite being illiterate, he not only rose to become the bishop of Trimythous in Cyprus, but at the First Ecumenical Council, he silenced the Arian heresy with the miracle of the roof tile.
With his holy life, he was ranked among the sacred choir of saints of the early Church, enduring torture with remarkable courage during the persecutions.
His miracles are countless to this day, which is why the hymnist addresses him: Rejoice, river of miracles.
