  • DISCLAIMER: The solder is ROM1. Rosin - Organic - Medium activated - Halide containing (1). Contains halides. It needs good ventilation; otherwise it literally gets you high and over time can give you electronic asthma.

    Tested on an Atten ST80 station, Chisel D2.4 tip at 320 degrees Celsius.
    Now to the wire itself. I have been using Alpha Fluitin 1532 for years, same class. My order from an overseas store was delayed, so I bought something in the same category from a local physical store to get the job done.

    On a board with 40 years of oxidation, it ate through the top layer without problems, hence the ROM1 flux, with the same "bite" that Fluitin has, which is very - extremely - good. The behavior of the alloy was predictable and stable in all solder joints (~2000 total so far), the solder flux is no-clean and transparent but cleans easily with isopropyl alcohol and a toothbrush. The soldering iron tip did not pick up carbon often, and when it did, a quick pass of about 1-2 dips in the wire cleaned it.

    4.7/5 stars from me, only because it takes about 1 second longer to "grab" compared to the one I am used to. Would I use it again? Easily. The price is very good for what it offers, given that Fluitin costs €55 for 500 grams.
