A copper coffee pot is ideal for making traditional Greek coffee. Greek coffee is one of the most beloved ways of preparing coffee in Greece. The traditional method of making Greek coffee with a coffee pot creates a fragrant, full-bodied and flavorful coffee.
To prepare Greek coffee with a copper coffee pot, follow these steps:
- Fill the coffee pot with cold water to the level you desire for the amount of coffee you want to make.
- Add the ground coffee to the pot. The recommended ratio is about 1 teaspoon of coffee per cup of water, but you can adjust according to your taste preference.
- Add any sugar you desire.
- Place the pot over medium heat on the stove and let it heat slowly. It may take about 4-5 minutes for the water to reach boiling point.
- When the water starts to boil, a frothy layer will form on the surface of the coffee. Once you see this frothy layer, remove the pot from the heat.
- Allow the pot to settle for a few seconds for the frothy layer to set.
- Repeat the process 2-3 times, mixing the frothy layer on top with the rest of the coffee in the pot.
- When the coffee is ready, you can serve it in cups, first spooning the frothy layer onto each cup.
