I will ask Pentel if they have a fully metal pencil; otherwise, I will look for another company that offers exclusively metal pencils

It is one of the best mechanical pencils available for drawing. We could say it's the Toyota Corolla of pencils! Although it was designed for technical drawing, it is also good for freehand or writing. Don't be fooled by its relatively low price. In terms of feel, it doesn't feel expensive, but the mechanism inside is sturdy and very precise (much better than others in its price range). The lead comes out very little with each click, allowing for better control. The tip is stable and doesn't wobble, which greatly helps with the pencil's precision. Of course, the best leads are the Ain Stein ones from Pentel. Don't be put off by their price, as they are not only the best but also come in a pack of 40 instead of the usual 10!

The fact that the thin metal part of the tip is not hidden inside is not a negative, on the contrary, it is the reason for its precision. Pencils that have this feature (hiding the tip inside to prevent it from breaking if it falls) all have a bit of "play" in the lead, meaning it is not stable and can easily break, resulting in less accuracy. So, for freehand drawing or neat handwriting, you want a bit of weight and a stable tip. Here are the best pencils for each case:

- EDC pencil to carry everywhere, strictly for writing: Pentel Kerry
- Pencil for school or long writing sessions: Pentel Twist Erase III
- Pencil for drawing: Faber Castell TK4600 2mm and Pentel Graphgear 500 0.5mm
- Pencil for sketching or any other use: Koh-I-Noor 5340

All of these should be used with their respective brand's leads for better performance and results. The P205 was designed for technical drawing, but due to its relative flexibility, it can be used in many of the above cases.

PS: I have extensively tested all the famous pencils, many of which are much more expensive. However, only the ones I mentioned here are better in terms of accuracy and control, making them the best performing pencils! Don't let the prices deceive you. Since the 90s, when I studied drawing, I have been searching for the best pencil. I am not a collector, I am a user. I write and draw every day with one of these pencils, which I have concluded are the best in terms of performance. For wooden pencils: Faber Castell 9000, Mitsubishi (especially the Hi Uni) or Blackwing, and then Staedtler comes close after the chaos.

Update 13.08.2023:
- The lack of a retractable tip is actually an advantage as the friend below mentioned. It provides precision and stability.
- I tried the P205 (and also the P207) with the top-notch Ain Stein 2B leads and I truly ENJOYED writing! It really is the best mechanical pencil for its price. Now I will try the more comfortable Pentel Kerry for writing and I will come back with feedback.
