Very good effort for a simple analysis of astrophysics, of course I lost track after the 2nd-3rd chapter (I read about up to 120 pages) where there was an explanation for every little satellite and star and it felt like it was repeating continuously. Despite this, I give it 4/5 because the beginning was particularly interesting and I admire Pavlos as a scientist.
Πολύ καλή προσπάθεια βατης ανάλυσης της αστροφυσικής, βέβαια με έχασε μετά από το 2-3 κεφάλαιο (διάβασα περίπου εως 120 σελίδα) όπου υπήρχε επεξήγηση για τον κάθε παραμικρό δορυφόρο και αστερα και ήταν σαν να επαναλαμβάνεται συνεχεια. Παρόλο αυτά βάζω 4/5 γιατί η αρχή ήταν ιδιαίτερα ενδιαφέρον και τον Παύλο τον θαυμάζω σαν επιστήμονα.

I had never read it before, but I had watched Paul's videos online and the book seemed very good for reading and understanding everything I had heard. I think it's a great gift for someone who is starting their journey in this field and proud to be such a young and kind person as shown by his profile on his YouTube channel! Δεν είχα ξαναδιαβάσει, αλλά είχα παρακολουθήσει τα βίντεο του Παύλου στο διαδίκτυο και μου φάνηκε το βιβλίο πολύ καλό στην ανάγνωση και τη κατανόηση όλων αυτών που είχα ακούσει. Νομίζω οτι είναι ένα πολύ καλό δώρο για κάποιον που ξεκινά το ταξίδι του σε αυτή κατηγορία και περίφανος που είναι ένα παιδί τόσο νέο και ευγενικό όπως φαίνεται από το προφίλ του στο κανάλι του στο youtube! Μπράβο Παύλο περιμένουμε το επόμενό σου βιβλίο.
I present the opinion of a relative of mine, who is a professor of Astrophysics at a university in Europe, and I gave her the book as a gift in order to hear her opinion:
*The insistence on the relatively many significant digits (when giving sizes) is tiresome and detracts from the essence of the information. Both the general public and the expert gain nothing from learning, for example, that the Sun is 109 times larger than the Earth. 100 times carries greater power, meaning it is easier to memorize and conveys the message. The book misses the opportunity to introduce the reader to the concept of "order of magnitude," which is central to astronomy and physics but does not hold a proper place in everyday life.
*The use of footnotes is excessively frequent. It disrupts the flow of the narrative without always adding necessary or substantial information.
*+It is up-to-date and mentions many recent findings that open windows of knowledge on topics that would not be found in slightly older texts (e.g. the Trappist-1 planetary system). There is a risk of quickly becoming outdated. Therefore, it is important to provide the year of the most recent information (record) - as is often done.
*The language is quite dry, and there are many repetitions of words that do not accurately convey the meaning (e.g. "εξάλλου" [after all]).
*It translates "extremely" as "υπερβολικά" [excessively] instead of "εξαιρετικά" [extremely].
*+It addresses and deals with some common misconceptions (e.g. how dangerous a Black Hole is among those that have been discovered).
+The chapters are short enough to be easily read in one sitting.
+Good use of examples to explain certain concepts (e.g. the difference in duration between a stellar and a solar day, page 34).
-The terminology is occasionally "awkward" (in cases where the translation from English is "accurate" but does not adequately convey the meaning in Greek, e.g. translating "Mental picture" as "πνευματική εικόνα" [mental image] instead of "νοητική εικόνα" [conceptual image] would have been preferable).
+The selection and coverage of topics are good.
+Good use of simple graphs and illustrations.
+The edition would benefit from tighter editorial oversight (e.g. there are concepts and phenomena whose explanation is repeated - not obviously for reinforcement. It gives the impression of fragmented writing.
+Overall, there is a strong emphasis on facts and data. Sometimes at the expense of a deeper understanding (which could be provided qualitatively.
Παραθέτω την άποψη μιας συγγενούς μου, η οποία είναι καθηγήτρια Αστροφυσικής σε πανεπιστήμιο της Ευρώπης και της έκανα δώρο το βιβλίο με σκοπό να ακούσω τη γνώμη της:
*Η επιμονή στα σχετικά πολλά σημαντικά ψηφία (όταν δίνει μεγέθη) είναι κουραστική και αποσπά απ’ την ουσία της πληροφορίας. Τόσο το ευρύ κοινό, όσο και ο γνώστης, δεν κερδίζουν τίποτα απ’ το να μάθουν π.χ. πως ο Ήλιος είναι 109 μεγαλύτερος απ’ τη Γη. Το 100 φορές φέρει μεγαλύτερη δύναμη, δηλαδή είναι πιο εύκολα απομνημονεύσιμο και περνάει το μήνυμα. Το βιβλίο χάνει την ευκαιρία να εισάγει τον αναγνώστη στην εκτίμηση της «τάξης μεγέθους» που είναι μία έννοια κεντρική στην αστρονομία και τη Φυσική, αλλά που δεν κατέχει την αρμόζουσα θέση στην καθημερινότητα.
*Η χρήση των υποσημειώσεων είναι υπερβολικά συχνή. Σπάει τη ροή της διήγησης, χωρίς να προσθέτει πάντα απαραίτητα ή ουσιαστική πληροφορία.
*+Είναι ενημερωμένο κι αναφέρει πολλά πρόσφατα αποτελέσματα που ανοίγουν παράθυρα γνώσης σε θέματα που δεν θα έβρισκε κανείς σε λίγο παλιότερα κείμενα (π.χ. Το πλανητικό σύστημα Trappist-1). Υπάρχει κίνδυνος να ξεπεραστεί σύντομα. Οπότε είναι σημαντικό να δίνεται το έτος της πιο πρόσφατης πληροφορίας (record) - όπως συχνά γίνεται.
*Η γλώσσα είναι αρκετά στεγνή και υπάρχουν πολλές επαναλήψεις λέξεων που δεν αποδίδουν ακριβώς το νόημα (π.χ. «εξάλλου»).
*Μεταφράζει το extremely ως υπερβολικά αντί του «εξαιρετικά»
*+Θέτει και αντιμετωπίζει κάποιες κοινές παρανοήσεις (π.χ. πόσο επικίνδυνη είναι μια Μαύρη Τρύπα απ’ αυτές που έχουν ανακαλύψει).
+Τα κεφάλαια είναι αρκετά μικρά ούτως ώστε να διαβάζονται εύκολα σε μία δόση.
+Καλή χρήση παραδειγμάτων για εξήγηση κάποιων εννοιών (π.χ. η διαφορά στην διάρκεια της αστρικής και της ηλιακής μέρας, σελ. 34)
-Η ορολογία είναι ενίοτε «άβολη» (σε περιπτώσεις που η μετάφραση απ’ τ’ αγγλικά είναι «ακριβής» αλλά δεν αποδίδει επαρκώς το νόημα στα ελληνικά π.χ. Mental picture σαν πνευματική εικόνα (νοητική εικόνα θα ‘ταν ήδη προτιμότερο))
+Η επιλογή και η κάλυψη θεμάτων είναι καλές.
+Καλή χρήση απλών γραφημάτων και σκίτσων.
+Η έκδοση θα κέρδιζε από πιο σφιχτή εκδοτική επιμέλεια (π.χ. Υπάρχουν έννοιες φαινόμενα των οποίων η εξήγηση επαναλαμβάνεται - όχι εμφανώς για εμπέδωση. Δίνει την εντύπωση αποσπασματικής γραφής.
+Γενικά υπάρχει μεγάλη έμφαση σε στοιχεία και δεδομένα. Κάποιες φορές εις βάρος μιας πιο βαθιάς κατανόησης (που θα μπορούσε να δοθεί ποιοτικά.

Excellent! Very well-written and enjoyable to read, it covers to a great extent the most important topics of astrophysics and space and is easily understandable to every reader without any previous background.
It is also very nice as a gift and I believe it should be present in every home as, while being a pleasant read, it can greatly broaden your horizons and make you see the world and humanity with different eyes.
I hope to see translations in other languages soon, besides Greek

Επίσης είναι πολύ ωραίο σαν δώρο και θεωρώ ότι πρέπει να υπάρχει σε κάθε σπίτι καθώς ενώ αποτελεί ευχάριστη ανάγνωση μπορεί να σου ανοίξει πολύ τους ορίζοντες και να σε κάνει να δεις τον κόσμο και τον άνθρωπο με άλλα μάτια.

Amazing book. Interesting content, lots of information, and suitable even if you don't have knowledge of mathematics and physics. What impressed me the most is its quality. The pages and materials it is made of are very durable despite it costing only 13 euros.

Very good effort for a simple analysis of astrophysics, of course I lost track after the 2nd-3rd chapter (I read about up to 120 pages) where there was an explanation for every little satellite and star and it felt like it was repeating continuously. Despite this, I give it 4/5 because the beginning was particularly interesting and I admire Pavlos as a scientist.
Πολύ καλή προσπάθεια βατης ανάλυσης της αστροφυσικής, βέβαια με έχασε μετά από το 2-3 κεφάλαιο (διάβασα περίπου εως 120 σελίδα) όπου υπήρχε επεξήγηση για τον κάθε παραμικρό δορυφόρο και αστερα και ήταν σαν να επαναλαμβάνεται συνεχεια. Παρόλο αυτά βάζω 4/5 γιατί η αρχή ήταν ιδιαίτερα ενδιαφέρον και τον Παύλο τον θαυμάζω σαν επιστήμονα.
Very nice book that analyzes many things about astrophysics!! Of course, the more knowledge someone has in the natural sciences, the easier it will be for them to understand the concepts discussed...!!! I recommend it....

I had never read it before, but I had watched Paul's videos online and the book seemed very good for reading and understanding everything I had heard. I think it's a great gift for someone who is starting their journey in this field and proud to be such a young and kind person as shown by his profile on his YouTube channel! Δεν είχα ξαναδιαβάσει, αλλά είχα παρακολουθήσει τα βίντεο του Παύλου στο διαδίκτυο και μου φάνηκε το βιβλίο πολύ καλό στην ανάγνωση και τη κατανόηση όλων αυτών που είχα ακούσει. Νομίζω οτι είναι ένα πολύ καλό δώρο για κάποιον που ξεκινά το ταξίδι του σε αυτή κατηγορία και περίφανος που είναι ένα παιδί τόσο νέο και ευγενικό όπως φαίνεται από το προφίλ του στο κανάλι του στο youtube! Μπράβο Παύλο περιμένουμε το επόμενό σου βιβλίο.
I present the opinion of a relative of mine, who is a professor of Astrophysics at a university in Europe, and I gave her the book as a gift in order to hear her opinion:
*The insistence on the relatively many significant digits (when giving sizes) is tiresome and detracts from the essence of the information. Both the general public and the expert gain nothing from learning, for example, that the Sun is 109 times larger than the Earth. 100 times carries greater power, meaning it is easier to memorize and conveys the message. The book misses the opportunity to introduce the reader to the concept of "order of magnitude," which is central to astronomy and physics but does not hold a proper place in everyday life.
*The use of footnotes is excessively frequent. It disrupts the flow of the narrative without always adding necessary or substantial information.
*+It is up-to-date and mentions many recent findings that open windows of knowledge on topics that would not be found in slightly older texts (e.g. the Trappist-1 planetary system). There is a risk of quickly becoming outdated. Therefore, it is important to provide the year of the most recent information (record) - as is often done.
*The language is quite dry, and there are many repetitions of words that do not accurately convey the meaning (e.g. "εξάλλου" [after all]).
*It translates "extremely" as "υπερβολικά" [excessively] instead of "εξαιρετικά" [extremely].
*+It addresses and deals with some common misconceptions (e.g. how dangerous a Black Hole is among those that have been discovered).
+The chapters are short enough to be easily read in one sitting.
+Good use of examples to explain certain concepts (e.g. the difference in duration between a stellar and a solar day, page 34).
-The terminology is occasionally "awkward" (in cases where the translation from English is "accurate" but does not adequately convey the meaning in Greek, e.g. translating "Mental picture" as "πνευματική εικόνα" [mental image] instead of "νοητική εικόνα" [conceptual image] would have been preferable).
+The selection and coverage of topics are good.
+Good use of simple graphs and illustrations.
+The edition would benefit from tighter editorial oversight (e.g. there are concepts and phenomena whose explanation is repeated - not obviously for reinforcement. It gives the impression of fragmented writing.
+Overall, there is a strong emphasis on facts and data. Sometimes at the expense of a deeper understanding (which could be provided qualitatively.
Παραθέτω την άποψη μιας συγγενούς μου, η οποία είναι καθηγήτρια Αστροφυσικής σε πανεπιστήμιο της Ευρώπης και της έκανα δώρο το βιβλίο με σκοπό να ακούσω τη γνώμη της:
*Η επιμονή στα σχετικά πολλά σημαντικά ψηφία (όταν δίνει μεγέθη) είναι κουραστική και αποσπά απ’ την ουσία της πληροφορίας. Τόσο το ευρύ κοινό, όσο και ο γνώστης, δεν κερδίζουν τίποτα απ’ το να μάθουν π.χ. πως ο Ήλιος είναι 109 μεγαλύτερος απ’ τη Γη. Το 100 φορές φέρει μεγαλύτερη δύναμη, δηλαδή είναι πιο εύκολα απομνημονεύσιμο και περνάει το μήνυμα. Το βιβλίο χάνει την ευκαιρία να εισάγει τον αναγνώστη στην εκτίμηση της «τάξης μεγέθους» που είναι μία έννοια κεντρική στην αστρονομία και τη Φυσική, αλλά που δεν κατέχει την αρμόζουσα θέση στην καθημερινότητα.
*Η χρήση των υποσημειώσεων είναι υπερβολικά συχνή. Σπάει τη ροή της διήγησης, χωρίς να προσθέτει πάντα απαραίτητα ή ουσιαστική πληροφορία.
*+Είναι ενημερωμένο κι αναφέρει πολλά πρόσφατα αποτελέσματα που ανοίγουν παράθυρα γνώσης σε θέματα που δεν θα έβρισκε κανείς σε λίγο παλιότερα κείμενα (π.χ. Το πλανητικό σύστημα Trappist-1). Υπάρχει κίνδυνος να ξεπεραστεί σύντομα. Οπότε είναι σημαντικό να δίνεται το έτος της πιο πρόσφατης πληροφορίας (record) - όπως συχνά γίνεται.
*Η γλώσσα είναι αρκετά στεγνή και υπάρχουν πολλές επαναλήψεις λέξεων που δεν αποδίδουν ακριβώς το νόημα (π.χ. «εξάλλου»).
*Μεταφράζει το extremely ως υπερβολικά αντί του «εξαιρετικά»
*+Θέτει και αντιμετωπίζει κάποιες κοινές παρανοήσεις (π.χ. πόσο επικίνδυνη είναι μια Μαύρη Τρύπα απ’ αυτές που έχουν ανακαλύψει).
+Τα κεφάλαια είναι αρκετά μικρά ούτως ώστε να διαβάζονται εύκολα σε μία δόση.
+Καλή χρήση παραδειγμάτων για εξήγηση κάποιων εννοιών (π.χ. η διαφορά στην διάρκεια της αστρικής και της ηλιακής μέρας, σελ. 34)
-Η ορολογία είναι ενίοτε «άβολη» (σε περιπτώσεις που η μετάφραση απ’ τ’ αγγλικά είναι «ακριβής» αλλά δεν αποδίδει επαρκώς το νόημα στα ελληνικά π.χ. Mental picture σαν πνευματική εικόνα (νοητική εικόνα θα ‘ταν ήδη προτιμότερο))
+Η επιλογή και η κάλυψη θεμάτων είναι καλές.
+Καλή χρήση απλών γραφημάτων και σκίτσων.
+Η έκδοση θα κέρδιζε από πιο σφιχτή εκδοτική επιμέλεια (π.χ. Υπάρχουν έννοιες φαινόμενα των οποίων η εξήγηση επαναλαμβάνεται - όχι εμφανώς για εμπέδωση. Δίνει την εντύπωση αποσπασματικής γραφής.
+Γενικά υπάρχει μεγάλη έμφαση σε στοιχεία και δεδομένα. Κάποιες φορές εις βάρος μιας πιο βαθιάς κατανόησης (που θα μπορούσε να δοθεί ποιοτικά.

Excellent! Very well-written and enjoyable to read, it covers to a great extent the most important topics of astrophysics and space and is easily understandable to every reader without any previous background.
It is also very nice as a gift and I believe it should be present in every home as, while being a pleasant read, it can greatly broaden your horizons and make you see the world and humanity with different eyes.
I hope to see translations in other languages soon, besides Greek
Εξαιρετικό! Πολύ καλογραμμένο και ευχάριστο στην ανάγνωση καλύπτει σε πολύ μεγάλο βαθμό τα σημαντικότερα θέματα της αστροφυσικής και του διαστήματος και είναι εύκολα κατανοητό σε κάθε αναγνώστη χωρίς κάποιο προηγούμενο υπόβαθρο
Επίσης είναι πολύ ωραίο σαν δώρο και θεωρώ ότι πρέπει να υπάρχει σε κάθε σπίτι καθώς ενώ αποτελεί ευχάριστη ανάγνωση μπορεί να σου ανοίξει πολύ τους ορίζοντες και να σε κάνει να δεις τον κόσμο και τον άνθρωπο με άλλα μάτια.
Ελπίζω να δούμε σύντομα μεταφράσεις και σε άλλες γλώσσες πλην των ελληνικών

Amazing book. Interesting content, lots of information, and suitable even if you don't have knowledge of mathematics and physics. What impressed me the most is its quality. The pages and materials it is made of are very durable despite it costing only 13 euros.
