The outer jacket is made of durable fabric (usually 65% polyester, 35% cotton) and features the iconic design with four large external pockets, shoulder epaulets, and a hood hidden inside the collar.

This allows the M-65 to be worn either as a lighter jacket for mild weather or as a warm winter jacket when the lining is in place.
