Plants in indoor and outdoor spaces are the main source of atmospheric renewal, as they produce oxygen and absorb toxins and pollutants. The maintenance and engagement of city dwellers with plants contribute to their physical, mental, and emotional health.
This book was written with the ambition to fill a gap in the existing Greek bibliography and aims to inform those interested in the technical cultivation and management of the most commercial potted plants.
It is organized into two parts: general and specific. The first part includes general information, basic principles of plant physiology, and floricultural practices. Topics such as plant propagation, environmental impact, irrigation and fertilization, growth and flowering control, and plant protection are briefly described for a better understanding of plant analysis in the second part. Topics related to plant decoration and maintenance in indoor spaces follow. In the specific part, the cultivation technique for commercial production of potted plants, the origin, use, and maintenance by the consumer are analyzed separately for each plant. Detailed descriptions are provided for 23 families of foliage plants, including 58 genera and approximately 90 species, 11 families of succulents and cacti, and 23 flowering potted plants suitable for indoor and outdoor spaces. The texts are accompanied by 41 tables and approximately 700 photographs.
The book can meet the needs of agronomists, agronomy technologists, university students, as well as professionals in the floriculture field. It can also help plant lovers maintain them in their living and working spaces for a longer time and with good quality.
