I use it inside the water tank of an espresso machine with a boiler. It is somewhat more expensive than others in its category but it is the only one (or one of the few) that, apart from reducing hardness, also reduces alkalinity. I tested the water with a kit like those used for aquarium water and it showed that it did what it promises.
Attention: it needs about 10 hours in the water to 'act' fully.
So far it has filtered 25 liters for me so I don't yet have an opinion about its long-term durability.
