This study is primarily addressed to educators and their students. The author wishes to share his thoughts and their justifications with them. The historical collective memory—which society independently maintains in its consciousness—is accompanied by the interpretation of historical events, with the assistance of the testimonies of their pioneers, while preserving their significant testimonies, which may not be utilized by scientific history. The latter is undeniably a significant and indeed difficult intellectual work. Alongside, it is also a cold rationalization of historical events. As important and necessary as the work of a coroner. However, from the cold and rigid scientific penetration that the professional historian performs on the data, the truth of the soul is absent. That is, the experiences of their protagonists, their societies, and their leaderships are absent. However, these are the universal historical truth, and it is worth knowing for future generations. The universal historical truth is not sidelined, while it can be understood in its depth if, for example, one sees the events of the Asia Minor catastrophe through the eyes of one of its protagonists, I. Venezis, in his work-historical document: The Number 31328 (Estia Publications, Athens 1995). In this specific historical document, the bitter memories are intertwined in a unique blend with experiences of war struggle, soul pain, hope, etc. These memories, as recorded in The Number 31328, open significant paths for historical critiques, analyses, and interpretations. All with experiential intensity, capable of enlightening the younger generations and supporting national feedback. It can be argued that the residual consciousness, which crystallized from the immediacy of the historical dramatist and his dramaturgy, is what establishes the experience, which consolidates in the memory of the historic people, of society, the greatest approach to historical truth. Ultimately, this is the historical collective memory, the reinforcement of national consciousness, so precious for historical societies like the Greek one, making them respected and significant in the universal consciousness.
