Diameter

The diameter of hair curling irons ranges from 10mm to 38mm, and each creates a different type of curl:

10mm - 19mm: These small diameters are for tight, defined curls, like "ringlets." Suitable for thicker or curly hair or short haircuts to create intense waves.

25mm: A versatile diameter that forms looser curls or soft waves. It is a good choice for medium-length hair and for a more natural look.

32mm - 38mm: These diameters are ideal for large, airy curls and waves with volume. Suitable for long hair and for a more "Hollywood wave" style.

Apart from the size of the curl, the diameter can also affect the heating time of the iron and how easily the hair can be wrapped around the barrel.
