Tegaea is one of the oldest and most distinguished cities of ancient Greece, with a rich involvement in the struggles of the Greeks, in cultural development, and in the construction of the modern Greek state.
It traces its origins to the Pelasgians, who appeared in Arcadia 33 thousand years ago and is classified among the "Pre-Hellenes," as the Arcadians were called, who were credited with the presence in Arcadia before the appearance of the Moon.
