    In general, it is not safe. The brakes are decorative, plastic, they do not have good grip and braking. For children, I think it is dangerous if they cannot stop easily and quickly enough. The plastic is of good quality and it is an economical solution, but I would not buy it again. I would look for one with metal brakes, although I also consider those very dangerous because if the sled tips over you can injure yourself with them or injure someone else.
