This small edition aims to shed light and enhance knowledge regarding the Fascist movement that originated in Italy from Benito Mussolini. It is a lecture by Dr. Joseph Goebbels delivered at the German Higher School of Politics and published in 1933.
October 28, 1922, the day of the March on Rome by Mussolini's Blackshirts, essentially marks the birth of a revolution in interwar Europe. This struggle of the Italians would lay the foundations of ideas that had previously emerged at a theoretical level in France with Maurice Barrès, Charles Maurras, and others, as well as from our own Ion Dragoumis, transforming theory into Movement and State.
The model and achievements of Fascism in Italy ignited a flame of desire in the hearts of European youth: "Let us do what the Italians did." For the first time, the values of a Nation had to become doctrine, theory, and Movement against the threat of leveling and fanaticism from Liberals, Socialists, Marxists, and Freemasons. Fascism was not an aggressive movement but a defense of the Nation, Religion, and Family against the unnatural ideas of internationalist fanatic mobs.
"Fascism and modern Italy cannot be understood without Mussolini. With Mussolini begins and ends the political evolution we call Fascism. Fascism is a phenomenon that first appeared in the world with Mussolini. Fascism received from Mussolini not only the idea but also shape, form, and organization. Thus, modern Italy bears in all expressions of its life the clear, deeply impressed seal of this unique personality. Mussolini himself was a phenomenon of will and Idea." Joseph Goebbels
