The JJC MSA-11 Shoe Adapter is made of aluminum. It connects to most cameras that have a standard hot shoe mount. The top of the adapter ends in a 1/4"-20 thread that can be attached to anything else with a 1/4"-20 socket. In this way, the adapter converts the hot shoe mount into a 1/4"-20 male screw. 

Additionally, at the bottom of the adapter, there is a 1/4"-20 threaded hole to accept anything else with a 1/4"-20 socket. In this way, it converts a female socket into a 1/4"-20 stud. The two locking nuts secure the items you connect to both ends of the adapter.
