I have tried several VHF-UHF receivers from well-known companies as well as PMR446 since 2006. Midland continues to produce quality products with excellent coverage from the dealership in terms of repairs. This particular one is the only one with a 2600mAh lithium battery, it has waterproofing and is easy to use for those who throw away the manuals like me. It also has the new PMR446 channels. The modulation is comparable to all the PMRs I have tested, it sounds loud and crystal clear (not muffled with a weak microphone). I would say it has about 10% lower modulation compared to the G7 Pro. The reception is very strong compared to the old G7 Pro and even its new version, G7 Pro, which has been dramatically improved. Features like sub-tones, VOX, etc. are unnecessary to mention, as it has them all. For those who want more than just settings[ ?⚙️], they can get the programming cable and software for sub-tones, squelch, and they won't regret spending their money on the settings... they will be rewarded. I first saw them in videos of Italian hikers and I decided to try them. For mountain excursions, I consider them the best in the license-free category that I have used. For now, they seem reliable. If I discover anything else in the future, I will mention it. On the back of the device, it says it is PMR446 free license in case of inspection, as it has a more professional appearance. The switches, buttons, and keys indicate quality. For a more discreet size, I would go for the G7 Pro or the XT series. I have also purchased a second receiver. They have separate charging bases with indicators when they are fully charged. The belt clip is good and it also has a lanyard for safety in case of a fall. I haven't tested them in extreme temperatures. During walks in the city, around cars, and in various conditions and obstacles, I have been satisfied.
