This Power Over eSATA to SATA 22-pin cable allows you to connect a 2.5 or 3.5 SATA hard drive externally to any free Power Over eSATA (eSATAp) port. This Power Over eSATA port combines eSATA and USB and allows, with the help of the two gold contacts, 12V power supply. Therefore, no additional power supply is required for a 2.5 or 3.5 hard drive. The cable can also be connected to a 5V eSATAp port, so you only have the required 5V to run the 2.5 hard drive.
