The non-absorbable surgical suture PROPYLEN is mainly used for holding in contact or closing soft tissues, even in ophthalmic surgeries, cardiovascular, and nervous system procedures.
As a material, it is particularly compatible with tissues. The PROPYLEN suture initially exhibits a minimal inflammatory tissue reaction, followed by the gradual formation of a connective tissue capsule around it. It is not absorbed by the tissues, does not decompose, and is not weakened by the action of proteolytic enzymes.
Due to the fact that it is almost inert in relation to tissues, its use is recommended in cases where the minimal possible reaction is desired. It is particularly recommended for use in wounds that are either infected or are easy to become infected afterward.
The PROPYLEN suture does not adhere to the tissues, resulting in its easy and painless removal. The suture is usually removed within a month.
