Application & Performance
The synthetic absorbable surgical suture PGA is selected for use depending on the patient's condition, the size of the wound and tissues, the surgical experience and technique.
After the implantation of the suture, a moderate local tissue inflammation is observed, characteristic of the reaction to a foreign body, followed by the gradual encapsulation in fibrous connective tissue. This is followed by the gradual loss of the suture's strength and mass due to its absorption with the help of the hydrolysis mechanism, during which the polymer breaks down into glycolic acid, which is absorbed and metabolized by the body.
Advantages:
- smooth passage through tissue
- high knot tensile strength
- knot security
- minimized tissue reaction
- flexibility and easy handling
