The synthetic absorbable surgical suture PGA is selected for use depending on the patient's condition, the size of the wound and tissues, and the surgical experience and technique. After the suture is implanted, a moderate local inflammation of the tissues is observed, characteristic of the reaction to a foreign body, followed by its gradual encapsulation in fibrous connective tissue. There is a gradual loss of strength and mass of the suture due to its absorption through the hydrolysis mechanism, during which the polymer breaks down into glycolic acid, which is absorbed and metabolized from body to body.
