The 1557 is one of Canson’s good papers. This particular one, at 120 gsm, is just right for pencil or charcoal. Although I’ve only tried it with graphite and charcoal, I think it should work just fine with ink and probably markers too. In an accident I had while erasing hard with the eraser, the paper slipped out of my hand and folded, but it neither wrinkled nor retained a crease, and its surface never became rough, no matter how many times I erased the same spot! Its tooth (nothing like the photo that shows it with charcoal and makes it look prominent and coarse) is medium to fine; it isn’t too bothersome, and at the same time helps the material (graphite, charcoal, etc.) adhere to the paper, while also providing good contrast! Perfect tooth, a perfect white color, not slightly cream-colored like the 1557 at 160 gsm. Overall, quality paper, one of the best options available at this price.
