In his new book, Meletis Meletopoulos deconstructs ethnic nihilism, theories of ethnogenesis, and the attempt to distort Greek history, proving that behind them lie ideologies, stereotypes, and theoretical confusion. He specifically cites examples of university professors, journalists, critics, etc., to whom he responds with strong documentation, scientific rigor, and constant references to sources and international literature.
He then analyzes the effort to construct nonexistent minorities, as well as the unfounded current of anti-Semitism in Greek society, and demystifies the ideology of multiculturalism. He also addresses the attempt to beautify the Ottoman rule by certain academics, which inevitably leads to the weakening of defensive reflexes against Turkish expansionism.
A significant part of the study is dedicated to a comprehensive, literature-based critique of the Annan Plan, as well as a detailed documented reference to the issue of the naming of Skopje. In the chapter on the reality of Greek-Turkish relations, the macro-historical nature of the millennium-old Greek-Turkish dispute is presented, arguments debunking the illusions about Turkey's accession to the European Union and its geopolitical and demographic consequences are made, and the timeline of violations of the Treaty of Lausanne from its signing in 1923 to today is presented.
The history of Turkish claims and designs in Western Thrace is also detailed, along with the relevant Turkish propaganda on the internet, as well as the unprecedented medieval regime of the muftiate for a European state. Finally, the famous theory of Panagiotis Kondylis regarding the scenario of Greek-Turkish conflict is presented.
However, the author does not subscribe to the logic of so-called hyper-patriots, whom he attributes with provincial nationalism, third-world mindsets, fears and insecurities, irreparable contradictions, ignorance of the international environment, and adventurous initiatives in national matters.
In the last chapter, the indissoluble relationship between Patriotism and Democracy is highlighted, which dates back to the oath of the ancient Athenian youths. The study concludes with an analysis of the concept of national consciousness.
