Opinel knives are classic pocket knives... The blade has good quality metal, the locking mechanism in the open position for using the blade is old-fashioned, but fully functional and doesn't have many mechanical parts that could jam or break... I don't know much about woods, but as far as I researched, the chestnut wood is just fine... The good thing is that many people get Opinel knives to modify them... cut, shape, design... mainly the wooden handle, but also the blade itself, to make it completely their own. And at their price, very few are afraid that if something goes wrong they'll regret it... For this particular one, I was personally drawn by its especially small and curved blade. The company made it mainly for use with garlic and chestnuts. Honestly, I bought it mainly for aesthetic reasons (the blade) and I had never bought this legendary knife before... And who knows, maybe I'll even dare to make some changes/modifications to the wooden handle... In short, everything is just fine and worthy.

  • in general, the design of this particular one is for specific tasks... as for the sharpening, opinel deliberately doesn’t sharpen them like before because people had complained that they cut too much and with the slightest mistake you get cut... if you take a 3000 grit water sandpaper at a 15 degree angle, you can make it shave in 10 minutes

I have knives and knives! I liked the design and bought it because it suits me at work! I was very disappointed with the sharpening!! Overall, in recent years Opinel knives do not shave like they used to!!
