The colorless beings of fear and terror, the nine Nazgûl, or Ringwraiths, were the immortal servants of the Dark Lord Sauron, enslaved to the Rings of Power. Once kings of Men, their identities were lost, entranced by the master’s unyielding will. When the rumor of the One Ring reached Mordor, Sauron sent the Nine with orders to reclaim this immensely powerful weapon.
Mounted on dark horses and cloaked in black robes, the Wraiths gallop for countless miles towards the lands of the Shire in search of their prey. Needing neither rest nor food, they were the ultimate hunters, tireless in their vigilance, driven relentlessly by the call of the Ring. Beneath the black edges of their coverings, voices like knives scraping stone repeated the same two words to anyone they encountered: Shire … Baggins …
