The wastewater treatment technology with stabilized microbial elements includes the Biological Aerated Filter (W-BAF).
Nano-Tech Bio-Media consists of ceramic spheres and is completely inert. It originates from the wastewater treatment industry and utilizes proprietary technology to shape the inert ceramic spheres into manageable forms (spheres, blocks, caps) for home aquariums.
The Bio-Spheres/Bio-Blocks excel in establishing bacterial colonies in the form of Bio-Nano Composite Films, allowing various species of bacteria and molds to thrive on their extensive surface, including nitrifying bacteria (including species from the genera Nitrosomonas, Nitrosococcus, Nitrobacter, and Nitrococcus), yeasts, phototropic prokaryotes, etc.
Bio-Spheres are carefully manufactured to ensure quality, while their well-designed porous structure creates ideal living conditions and an environment for bacterial colonies without being decomposed by them.
Just 10 pieces of Nano-Tech Bio-Sphere can replace up to 20 pounds (10 kg) of live rock.
For the Bio-Blocks, place them directly in the drain or in a high water flow area.
Placing all Nano-Tech Bio-Spheres in a net makes maintenance easy and saves a lot of space for other devices. They can be used in both freshwater and saltwater environments.
The Bio-Spheres should be cleaned or replaced every 6 months for optimal results. However, when cleaning/replacing old Bio-Spheres, do NOT replace them all at once. Clean/replace half of the Bio-Spheres so that sufficient bacterial colonies remain to repopulate the newly cleaned/replaced Bio-Spheres.
