Description

Description

When the mind begins to understand the intelligible goods hidden in phenomena, it then partakes of the simplicity and incomprehensibility that surround You, Redeemer. It is not so much attracted by what it has been able to learn about You, but it is inflamed by that which eludes it. The fact that Your knowledge is unattainable leads it to excessive admiration. Therefore, although it is impossible for the mind to reach the end of these divine gifts, as they are infinite, it can approach You, provided it is purified first, and by contemplating Your beauty it may ascend to brighter and clearer theories of the intelligibles surrounding You, thus perfecting itself appropriately. For this reason, You ignite the mind with love's arrows, which waits for You with longing, and You illuminate it increasingly, introducing it to the hidden views and mystical supernal goods.
