The DCFRD1 car multimedia adapter connects to the CD changer port and lets you play MP3 and WMA files through the factory Ford audio system. It features USB, SD and AUX-IN inputs. Playback, track changes and audio settings are controlled via the audio system console or the steering wheel controls. It supports up to 99 folders, with up to 99 songs per folder, and resumes playback from where it stopped.

It is compatible with factory Ford audio systems 4050RDS, 4500, 4600RDS, 5000RDS, 5000RDS EON, 6000RDS, 6000 MP3 and 7000RDS. It does not work with factory Sony audio systems, 6000RDS navigation systems with batch number M009423 / 98AP-18C815-CB, or navigation systems controlled via CAN-BUS with a 12-pin CDC connection. It is not compatible with Mondeo and C-Max models after 2004, Focus models after 2008, Alpine Radio AL390320177503 or Ford Radio RDS 5000NE YM21-18K876-JC. Installation is done by plugging it into the factory audio system, after first disconnecting the power supply.
