Description

The second volume of the unpublished material from Angeliki Chatzimichali's study of the Sarakatsani is dedicated to the memory of her worthy student and collaborator Tatiana Giannara, who passed away in May 2008.

Angeliki Chatzimichali inspired in Tatiana a passion for folklore research from a young age. In her student, she found the only person who could truly understand her. Both approached their research work with the experience of the field and the practicalities of the mountain as their compass.

Tatiana admired Angeliki for her work and loved her like a mother. She continued to work with even greater dedication, even after she passed away. The family of Angeliki and the Board of Directors of the Angeliki Chatzimichali Foundation will always be grateful.

Without her effective collaboration, when she was vice president of the Foundation, we would not have succeeded in saving the "Greek House." And when we finally managed, after so many years, in 2000, to transform the School into a Foundation, with her well-known passion and energy, she significantly contributed to the promotion of Angeliki's work by taking on the curation and writing of an amazing catalog for the Embroidery Exhibition from the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, which we presented for the first time in Greece, at the Benaki Museum.

She put in tremendous effort to select the ninety most beautiful and representative embroideries from the thousand at V & A, in the damp and cold conditions of their storage space, wrapped up in shawls and coats.

The grandchildren of Angeliki Chatzimichali, Alexis Chatzimichalis, president of the Angeliki Chatzimichali Foundation, Nikitas Chatzimichalis, Socrates Seferiadis.
