Three years after the publication of the first volume of the ARCHAEOLOGY series, MELISSA presents the volume on the archaeology of "Evia and Central Greece". This period (2005 - 2008) corresponds to the time it took to complete the book you hold in your hands, knowing from the very beginning the difficulty of the undertaking, both editorially and scientifically.
In the first volume of ARCHAEOLOGY, the island Aegean, excluding Evia, was examined. I had then clarified that this was dictated by the geographical peculiarity of Evia and its dual - insular and continental - cultural identity over time. Completing the circuit of the islands, this book opens with the large island of Evia in the Aegean and heads west to the Ionian Sea, covering the southern extension of the Hellenic mainland, present-day Central Greece.
