G Master resolution, without compromises

The small, lightweight FE 50 mm F1.2 GM is ideal for dedicated creators. XA (extreme aspherical) elements and other technologies deliver incredible resolution and contrast. Nano AR Coating II minimizes flare and ghosting, while the floating focus mechanism ensures optimum sharpness at any focusing distance.

Soft, refined G Master bokeh

XA elements, along with meticulous control of spherical aberration during design and manufacturing, contribute to the beautiful G Master bokeh for distinctive portraits and more, especially with the shallow depth of field available at the lens's maximum F1.2 aperture. An 11-blade circular aperture mechanism contributes to beautifully circular bokeh.

Fast, precise, silent autofocus and tracking

Reliable fast precision focusing, even with the very shallow depth of field of 50 mm F1.2. Four XD (extreme dynamic) linear motors reliably position the large, heavy focusing elements for fast, precise AF. Genuine E-mount lenses ensure maximum performance of E-mount cameras, in both video and stills.

Professional maneuverability

With a diameter of 87 mm, a length of 108 mm, and a weight of 778 grams, the FE 50 mm F1.2 GM complements the small, high-performance E-mount bodies, offering highly versatile handling and portability. Three XA elements and four XD linear motors in an unexpectedly compact large-aperture lens, for incredible creative potential.

Professional handling and reliability

2 focus hold buttons, focus mode switch, focus ring, aperture ring with click-stop switching, and more for smooth operation. Focus hold buttons can be assigned other functions via the menu. Linear response manual focus for linear response of the focus ring during manual focusing. Dust and moisture resistance, front lens with fluorine coating.

Personally, for me, it is the best automatic prime lens for the E mount. Lightweight, compact, very well-balanced, amazing performance in low light conditions at 1.2, although it truly shines at 2-2.8 with incredible autofocus; I use it on the A7SIII and FX3 for video. It has no distortion at all, it doesn’t focus close but that’s not a problem because you don’t buy this kind of lens for that purpose. I think it should be part of every serious photographer’s and videographer’s basic trio. Personally, if I’m going to use an automatic lens, this is my first choice—an insanely sharp lens, the bokeh is truly incredible. At 1.2 you need to be far enough for the subject to be properly focused, at 2 to 3.2 it’s fantastic even if the subject is quite close, autofocus is silent, and the focusing mechanism does not extend like the equivalent Canon RF. For €2200, it’s really a very good price for such a lens. I’ve also used the 1.4 but the truth is the 1.2 is much better, with the only drawback being about 200g heavier. If the dilemma is 1.4 or 1.2, my opinion is clearly 1.2 as long as it’s within your budget. That’s all for this amazing lens, have a good time and happy shooting!!

I tried the lens on an A1.
    And the result was amazing.
The quality of the bokeh image and the focusing speed is the best I have seen on a camera so far.
The weight is very small for the lens's specifications, as well as its size.
The price is also reasonable compared to the competition and what it offers.
