Description

The greatest journeys you have already made searching for your map.

12/8/1966, Falkonera, 02:06 AM.

SOS from Heraklion.

Our position: 36° 52´ N., 24° 08´ E. We are sinking!

The ship's radio falls silent, as do the voices of the passengers. Irene and Apostolos, who embarked on the journey of their lives, are now fighting to save it. The battle with the asymmetrical enemy is great and uneven. Who will be saved? Who will be lost?

Modern times. Artemis, three days after her grandmother's death, discovers some faded newspapers from another era. The shipwreck of "Heraklion" is in the foreground. The woman she sees in the circled photo reminds her of her grandmother. Same name, same face, but different surname. Without knowing it, she holds a ball of thorny threads, which, as it unravels, its thorns dig deep into her heart.

Kythera, Athens, Paris. A mysterious triangle, a journey that never ended.

In the book you will meet

  • The struggle for survival in extreme conditions.
  • The unraveling of a family mystery connected to a historical event.
  • The impact of the past on the present and on human relationships.

"The water was black. Black and thick. It clung to her like another flesh. Like a locust, it latched on, like a second skin of pitch-black mud covering every cell of her body. It seeped inside her and darkened her even more, while the girl struggled to escape the fury of the wildest waves.

But it wasn’t the sea that was drowning her. What the hell was it? No, she didn’t care now. She had to survive. She was fighting to cope with beasts as tall as that, enormous and disproportionate to her own strength.

They were like mountain ranges, rising up and threatening to drown her, to take her last breath, as if they were opposing her in the most insidious and effective way."

The author tried to fit too many things together, resulting in overloading it to the point that it exhausted you with the excessive effort to create drama and emotion. Nevertheless, he writes beautifully.

If it also included a kidnapping for ransom, then it would be even more evident that it envied Foskolos' scenarios! The title of the book would be complete if it was "The Shipwreck - I'd rather drown..." For what reason exactly should the rescuer of Eirini be an obsessive murderer, aspiring murderer, and rapist? Mercy!!! And finally, yes, there should be a dramatic plot involving those involved in the shipwreck, but what follows the shipwreck characters is much worse than the shipwreck itself!!! Exaggeration in all its glory. "I want drama on top of drama and a little more drama and even more drama" so that I can satisfy my craving for drama. It's a shame because it is well-written and the narration is very vivid. It could have been a very good book if the author had overcome his own obsessions before writing it..

Excessive melodrama, which ruined my mood to reach the end. The details are presented nicely, although I would prefer a more extensive reference to the events.
